Once again, police raid FunGuyz magic mushroom shop in Cambridge, lay trafficking charges

Another week, another raid of one of the FunGuyz magic mushroom shops in Waterloo Region.

Waterloo Regional Police executed a search warrant on Wednesday at the Cambridge store on King Street East near Waterloo Street North.

Like other raids, officers seized a large amount of psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms, in various forms — plus Canadian cash.

Police arrested and charged a 27-year-old from Waterloo with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police said in a statement, repeating their earlier comments, that “psilocybin is categorized as a Schedule III controlled substance. Businesses engaged in selling these products are operating unlawfully, and the substances they offer are neither regulated nor subject to standardized quality control measures.”

Regional police have raided the FunGuyz stores in Cambridge and Kitchener several times over the last several months, sometimes both at the same time.

Each time one or two people are charged with trafficking.
