Police lay more than 40 charges against suspect for string of break-ins

A Cambridge man is now facing a long string of charges after half a year’s worth of alleged break-ins and thefts.

Waterloo Regional Police said it all began in September 2023, with a single break-in at a business around Franklin Boulevard and Bishop Street North in Cambridge.

They said two male suspects smashed a front window and stole cash, property and a vehicle.

Police have since identified one of those suspects, and connected him to several other thefts in Kitchener and Waterloo from December to March.

Police arrested a 25-year-old Cambridge man, Thursday, and charged him with more than 40 offences.

Those include nine counts each of disguise with intent, theft under $5,000, attempt theft under $5,000 and possession of coin-operated device breaking instrument.

Other charges are: break, enter a place — commit indictable offence; possession of break-in instruments; motor vehicle theft; and three counts of mischief under $5,000.

There’s no mention from police about the second suspect from that first break-in.
