An alarming afternoon for some Breslau residents as they were told to stay inside and keep their windows closed because of heavy smoke from a grass fire.

Waterloo Regional Police confirmed the large grass fire was reported Monday around 2 p.m. in the Kramp Road and Greenhouse Road area.

People living nearby were directed to stay indoors temporarily until the smoke cleared.

In an update just before 3:30 p.m., police said the grass fire was extinguished by the Woolwich Fire Department.

No one was hurt and no buildings or structures were damaged.
