Person-on-person robbery brings sizable police presence to Waterloo’s university district

Regional police are still investigating following a reported robbery incident in Waterloo.

It was just after 1 a.m. on Monday when police responded to the area of University Avenue West and King Street North for that call.

It’s alleged that the victim, a 43-year-old man, was sitting in their vehicle when they were approached by two suspects, demanding personal property before getting physical.

One of those suspects pulled a knife during the exchange. Both suspects then fled the area – but were later arrested by police.

The victim was not physically harmed during the robbery.

A 23-year-old Brampton man and a 23-year-old Cambridge man have since been charged with the following:

  • Robbery
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The suspect from Brampton was also charged with disguise with intent and failure to comply with a release order.
