The Kitchener Rangers entered the holiday break on a high note with a 4-3 win in overtime against the Barrie Colts on Saturday night.
Kitchener led 3-0 going into the 3rd period. However, the Colts were able to score three times in the 3rd to force the extra period where Matthew Sop netted the game-winner.
CityNews 570’s Colour Commentator Paul Fixter said the Blueshirts will take the win no matter how they got it.

“In the end, it’s not how, it’s how many, and that’s a win,” Fixter said. “That’s two points that they don’t have to apologize for. It’s probably not the 3rd period they wanted to have, but there is a reason there’s overtime, Kitchener scored and they deserve the two points.”
Blair Scott, who is from Kitchener, scored his first OHL goal in the game.
“I saw (Cameron) Arquette get the puck down low, and I was wide open in the slot, and I made myself available, and then just had to bury that one,” Scott said.
The Rangers also got goals from Justin Bottineau and Trent Swick in the win.

Kitchener finished the first half of their season with a record of 24-8-2-0 and 50 points. That’s the most points in the OHL.
Head Coach Jussi Ahokas said the team is ready for the holiday break.
“I think we need the break now, get back some guys from injury, relax, and then get back to work again.”
The Rangers return to the ice on Friday, Dec. 29. They host the Flint Firebirds and you can listen to the game on CityNews 570.
