RCMP Kitchener detachment, regional police complete drug bust
The RCMP Kitchener detachment teamed up with Waterloo Regional Police and the OPP to make a huge drug bust at multiple locations.
Police seized 1,365 marijuana plants in Project O COSMOS, and the Mounties say the investigation led to the discovery of other drugs and guns.
Search warrants were executed between Aug. 2 and Aug. 11 this year in Kitchener, Wilmot Township, and Melanchton Township.

The Mounties said the huge haul of marijuana plants were found in Melanchton, along with 88 bags of dried pot.
They said officers also found more than 60 kilograms of psilocybin (magic mushrooms); 72 kilograms of cannabis edibles; 6 kilograms of hashish; and small quantities of cocaine, meth, and MDMA (ecstasy).
As for guns, the RCMP say they seized a Glock 9mm handgun, with ammunition; a .22 calibre rifle; and two replica firearms.
Six people are facing a long list of charges, most of which are drug possession and trafficking charges.
A statement from the RCMP Kitchener detachment said in part: “We are pleased to be able to keep our communities safe by seizing both drugs and guns from another organized crime group.”
