St. Mary’s Hospital holds annual ‘Hike and Bike’ fundraiser

It has been 20 years since St. Mary’s General Hospital performed its first open-heart surgery.
That milestone was celebrated Sunday with it’s annual ‘Hike and Bike’ event at the Laurel Creek Conservation Area.
The fundraiser has been running for 30 years and raises money for St. Mary’s regional cardiac care centre.
Before becoming a full-service cardiovascular site, care for cardiac conditions had to be transferred to hospitals outside the community.
Money raised will go to the purchase of new equipment at the hospital’s cardiac centre.
