Two new roundabouts approved for Roseville Rd. in North Dumfries

A pair of new roundabouts are set to be installed on Roseville Rd. in North Dumfries — though there is going to be a bit of a wait.

The new additions were approved by regional council on Wednesday though construction isn’t expected to start until sometime in 2025.

The roundabouts will be installed along Roseville Rd., one at Edworthy Side Rd. and the other at Dickie Settlement Rd.

In a release, the region said, once completed, the roundabouts should help lower life-cycle costs and reduce idling times which “will result in fuel savings and reduced vehicle emissions and will support the Region’s climate goals.”

The changes should also help lower speeds in the area–at least a little–with the limit set to drop from 80 km/h to 60 km/h into and out of the roundabouts.

The approval also comes as, earlier the same day, this stretch of Roseville Rd. between Dickie Settlement and Edworthy Side roads was closed due to a single vehicle crash in which regional police have said the driver left the roadway, hit a hydro pole, and knocked out power to the area temporarily.
