GoFundMe launched for Kitchener homicide victim

A GoFundMe page has been setup to help the family of an 18-year-old who was the victim of a fatal shooting in Kitchener on Sunday.

Joshua Tarnue was shot outside a business in the area of Queen Street and Charles Street.

The fundraiser describes Tarnue as “an always-smiling, down-to-earth, and easy-going young man.”

It adds that Joshua and his family came to Canada in 2019 looking for a better life.

Joshua’s brother, Francis, described him as someone who was “polite to everyone and a person who tries his best to stay out of trouble.”

The suspect involved in the homicide fled the scene, and has not yet been found. Police say he is a black man who was last seen running down Queen Street, toward Joseph Street.

The money raised will go to helping Tarnue’s family with funeral expenses.
