An expansion at The Village of Winston Park in Kitchener is now ready for residents.
Paul Calandra, Minister of Long-Term Care, was at the Block Line Road long-term care home Tuesday to announce the opening of 224 LTC beds now available.
The home is part of the province’s $6.4 billion plan to build more than 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province by 2028.

Some highlights of the expansion include private and basic rooms, lounges, dining and activity areas, larger resident common areas and air conditioning throughout the home.
President and CEO, Schlegel Villages, James Schlegel says, “We are extremely proud of the new neighbourhoods we’ve opened at The Village of Winston Park, where resident-centered care and the best of thoughtful design are in place to offer the best quality of life we can for the residents we serve. We’re grateful that our partners at the Ministry of Long-Term Care have chosen to invest in the needs of older adults here in Waterloo Region and across the province.”
It’s not just The Village of Winston Park getting the province’s attention; twelve other projects across Waterloo Region are receiving provincial funding, including LTC homes in Cambridge, Wilmot, Woolwich and Kitchener.
All thirteen projects will bring a total of 1,467 new and 1,010 upgraded long-term care beds.
