WRPS and Walmart team up for annual toy drive

By Joe McGinty

Waterloo Regional Police Services will be stationed at Walmarts all over the region to collect toys for the upcoming holiday season.

Police will hold their annual Stuff-a-Cruiser event at four Walmarts around Waterloo Region including the Cambridge location at 22 Pinebush Rd. on Dec. 10 and 11.

For the last 27 years, police have been working with the Waterloo Knights of Columbus to collect toys and have given over 300,000 children presents around the holidays.

“The Stuff-a-Cruiser event is a highly successful partnership initiative between the Waterloo Regional Police Service and the Knights of Columbus’ New Toys for Needy Kids campaign,” said WRPS in a news release.

Toys are asked to be new and unwrapped and donations will be distributed through community agencies and given to children in need throughout the region.

For donations being made after the Stuff-a-Cruiser event, toys can be dropped off at any police department throughout the region.

Other Walmarts participating in the drive are:

  • Sunrise Walmart – 1400 Ottawa Street South, Kitchener
  • The Boardwalk Walmart – 100 The Boardwalk, Kitchener
  • St. Jacobs Walmart – 335 Farmers Market Road, Waterloo
