Local vigils planned to honour victims of École Polytechnique shooting
A pair of vigils will be held Tuesday in Waterloo Region to honour victims of the École Polytechnique shooting on the 33rd anniversary of the tragedy.
On December 6, 1989, a man motivated by a hatred of feminists shot and killed 14 female students and injured 13 other people at the Montreal engineering school.
At 12 p.m., YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo will host a vigil at Vogelsang Green (located at Queen Street North and Duke Street East in downtown Kitchener).

Those who plan on attending are encouraged to wear a white ribbon.

Flags at all local public schools and Ontario government buildings will also be flown at half-mast.
