Region of Waterloo Public Health reports four new COVID-related deaths

Four new COVID-related deaths were confirmed by Region of Waterloo Public Health in the latest update, released Friday afternoon.
As a result, the local death toll is now 488.

“Today we are reporting four COVID-related deaths in our community. The individuals were a male in his 100s, two females in their 90s, and a male in his 80s. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of these individuals,” said Dr. Julie Emili, Associate Medical Officer of Health.
Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have not changed since the last update. There are currently 63 patients hospitalized, with two patients in intensive care with COVID.
275 new cases were also confirmed Friday, putting the overall total at 52,871.
The active caseload is down by 48 since the last update to 297.
