Another round of school bus route cancellations set for next week

Families are being put on notice as another round of school bus route cancellations will take effect next week. 

A total of seven routes will be impacted from Monday, September 26 to Friday, September 30.

It includes routes that service Bluevale Collegiate, KCI, Preston High School, and St. Margaret Catholic Elementary School.

Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region has warned of rotating route cancellations, continuing until December. 

It's due to an ongoing bus driver shortage that led to safety concerns. 

The organization has said no bus route will be cancelled for more than a week at a time, and that the measure is necessary to help alleviate some of the delays and last-minute cancellations. 

The executive director of School Bus Ontario told CityNews earlier this week that the driver shortage is not just being felt locally, as it's currently a province-wide issue.
