Waterloo comic store aims for middle ground with masking policy
Aiming to accommodate all customers to the best of their ability come Monday, Waterloo's Carry-On Comics has offered a unique compromise to meet the needs of a community “very divided” in its reaction to the removal of COVID-19 masking mandates.
Posting their updated hours on social media, the super-hero hub has indicated that they have changed their in-store policy and hours to require masking of customers one day a week on Thursdays.
Other in-store shopping hours will have masking encouraged — but not mandatory.

Carry-On Comics stated on Twitter that the decision was made in recognition of those in the community who have grown tired of wearing a mask throughout the pandemic, while also noting some customers have expressed concerns about not wearing a face covering in a public space beginning on March 21.
“Carry-On will try to accommodate all of you. We will show you that we heard all your voices, and that all your needs are important to us.”
Arguing an understanding of “both sides of this coin,” the owner expressed in that they're hopeful all customers will be able to find a time and day to visit that works with their needs and comfort levels.
The store will also be operating exclusively by curbside pickup on Tuesdays.
