Two injured, two arrested after reports of shots fired in Kitchener (update)

Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit, General Investigations Unit and Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate a shooting incident that occurred on Ingleside Drive in Kitchener on July 28, 2021.

After further investigation, police have determined that two victims who were in a vehicle were approached by two male suspects. A physical altercation took place in which one of the suspects discharged a firearm. The suspects then stole the vehicle and fled the area. 

Police flooded the area and located the stolen vehicle. In an attempt to flee the area, the driver of the stolen vehicle struck a police cruiser. The suspects then took off on foot.

One suspect was located a short distance away by police. Officers searched a nearby green space and located and arrested the second suspect. 

A 23-year-old male was charged with several weapons-related offences, including Robbery with a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Careless Use of a Firearm and Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound. 

A 22-year-old male was charged with several weapons-related offences, including Robbery with a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Careless Use of a Firearm.

The investigation is ongoing.
