COVID vaccination clinics available to students, faculty at local universities
As the region continues to boost its vaccination rates ahead of our planned move to Step 3 of the province’s reopening plan, this week marks further opportunities to get the jab for our local university students as well as staff and faculty.
As of Monday, the University of Waterloo will be offering first and second dose appointments for Moderna shots all throughout this week to its students, employees and family members aged 18 years of age and older. Appointments can be booked through the university’s on-campus Health Services.
Posting the notice on Twitter, the University of Waterloo called the vaccine clinic a positive and important piece of their plans for a “safe and staged return to campus.”

At Wilfrid Laurier University, the Student Wellness Centre on the Waterloo campus will be offering appointments for first and second dose shots to students, faculty, and staff on Friday. Those appointments can be requested through the university’s Health and Wellness web page, requiring the completion of a COVID-19 Immunization Intake form.
As of Monday, Waterloo Region’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force reports that nearly 81 per cent of adults aged 18 and older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, with over 53 per cent of adults now fully vaccinated against the virus.
