Two COVID-related deaths, 80 more cases in Waterloo Region

Public health is reporting 80 new cases of COVID-19 in the community.

There were 79 cases reported today, with alterations made to previous days' tallies.

In total, there's been 9,027 cases of the virus in the region.

Two new deaths were reported, with one linked to Chartwell Westmount Long-Term Care, and one at Chartwell Elmira Retirement Residence.

The death toll locally is 191.

8,092 cases are considered resolved, or 90 per cent, which is an increase of 117.

741 cases are active, which brings the active case load down by 39.

40 people are hospitalized due to the virus, and 10 are in intensive care.

Meantime, the province reported 1,958 new cases on Monday.
