Kitchener teen to play for Canada at USA Hockey, Disabled World Cup of Hockey Championships
A Kitchener hockey player is heading south of the border to play for Team Canada at the inaugural, USA Hockey, Disabled World Cup of Hockey Championships, and you can help him get there.
The Championships are May 11-17th in Las Vegas, and 19-year-old Spencer Wolfe has been chosen to represent Team Canada.
Unfortunately, athletes and their families are responsible for raising all the costs needed to attend the event. This includes paying for airfare, hotel fees, and meals.

This led the Wolfe family to starting a GoFundMe page to help raise $4,000.
Spencer's dad Dave will be travelling with him to Las Vegas.
He tells 570 NEWS the support they've seen so far has been overwhelming.
“A lot of them are just people who … just donated and it's really, um, it's really hard for us to put it into words, what it means to us and Spencer.”
Spencer was born with a cleft lip and palate, has a visual impairment in his left eye and was diagnosed with a mild intellectual disability. That however, hasn't slowed him down, he has eight seasons with the Kitchener Ice Pirates under his belt, is a full-time student at Conestoga College and has a part-time job.

Dave Wolfe adds, his son is a big hockey fan and to be able to wear the Canadian jersey is something that is special for him.
“We're really proud of him … His teammates are pretty excited for him, and of course family and extended family, they are pretty proud, it's pretty big!”
