This article is more than 5 years old.
It seems to be the talk of the town right now.
Robin Lindner and Elaine Decleir are the brains behind KW Famous – a line of T-shirts, stickers and other swag – featuring names of places only people living here, or who have lived here would know.
Lindner and Decleir, who run a local marketing company, don't know if they made it up “but we definitely made it a thing,” Lindner said with a smile.
“KW Famous, it's kind of just a collection of fun things that represent our community that make us laugh or like get you to share a story,” said Lindner.
One of the designs pays tribute to a few local bars – “ethel, jane, morty, phil,” it reads.
Another one features Mount Trashmore – it says “WHERE DREAMS COME TRUE.”
Decleir joked some of the ideas may have come out of some “wine nights,”
“Talking about the things in K-W that make us laugh … we have such a quirky community here, so it's really fun,” she told The Mike Farwell Show on 570 NEWS.
“I think when you go anywhere and they say where are you from? Like Kitchener-Waterloo and you want to say what K-W is known for, I think at first it's really hard to describe, because it's really about the people you meet and like the community is really like nowhere else,” added Lindner.
Decleir said the community has already been so supportive, “This has been so consistent over the past few years in our business … I'm shocked that all you have to do is ask,”
Lindner agrees, “I feel like in K-W, you can do things if you have an idea and ambition … everyone is here to help.”
Some of their items are available for sale at Cafe Pyrus and Gifted.
