Starbucks closing early today across Canada for anti-bias training
If you’re a regular customer at Starbucks, your morning trip to the coffee shop will be business as usual.
But an afternoon coffee run today, might be a different story.
Starbucks locations across Canada will close early this afternoon so workers can receive the same kind of anti-bias training their U.S. counterparts experienced last month.

The stores will close for a few hours starting at 3:00 this afternoon.
The move was sparked by an incident where two black men were arrested at a Philadelphia location back in April when the manager called police on the pair whose only crime was sitting in the Starbucks without ordering anything.
It turned out they were just waiting for a friend to join them.
Starbucks says the goal of this race sensitivity training is to prevent discrimination at any location.
In Canada, it will involve close to 11-hundred stores and about 20 thousand employees.
