Trench collapses on woman at Tillsonburg home, 35-year-old injured

Rescue workers were on scene in Tillsonburg for over two and a half hours on Saturday, after a woman became trapped under a collapsed trench.

Oxford County OPP say they got the call around 6 p.m., as the 35-year-old was repairing foundation at her home.

Constable Ed Sanchuk tells 570 NEWS that after hours of collaborative rescue efforts between police, paramedics, and crews from three separate fire departments – the woman was freed.

She was taken to a local hospital with “undetermined injuries”, and as of Sunday morning, is listed as ‘stable’ – although Sanchuk says that could change.

He says any further updates will be released when they’re available, and OPP are reminding us to make safety a priority when doing any home improvement projects.
