I’m Dreaming of a White…. or Pink, Purple or Teal?…. Christmas…
Merry Christmas.
We can say that now, now that Santa rolled into Waterloo Region in two local parades over the weekend. He also showed up at the Cambridge Centre by Zamboni. Umm…that’s cool!
His arrival BTW has opened the floodgates to full-on seasonal decorating panic including the lighting of the house and outdoor landscape.
We spent some time at a local Canadian Tire in Cambridge. It was a little busy. No kidding. The aisles stacked with Christmas lights were elbow-room only.
Here, I present the top lighting trends of 2015:

Anything that flashes like a 70’s disco party strobe light.
Those up to $200 magic bulbs that put millions of sparkling dots all over the face of your house have taken over my block. They need to add music.
Pink… and teal outdoor bulbs. Jewel tones of purple have also popped up. Blame Frozen?
And then… there are the trees that look like something from My Little Pony’s playhouse.

I’m not going to lie. I went over and touched the pink one.. and had a ” hmmmm…maybe” moment or two. I live in a house of boys. You could have a lot of fun with that one.
We’re sticking with a green, fresh one though.
Wondering what your display says to the neighbours and those who do the drive-bys?
Check this out.
I confess to being stuck in my “Martha” white mini-lights rut….
My boys have thrown in the blow-up “polar bears playing hockey” piece to round out the scene too.

It’s a good thing. I might be grabbing those pink and purple bulbs on Boxing Day.
