Kitchener man pleads guilty to lesser charges in human trafficking case

A Kitchener man, charged in a human trafficking case, has pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

22 year old Remington Needham was sentenced to 18 months in jail and two years probation. With credit for time served, he has just over one year to spend behind bars.

He was accused of luring a 17 year old girl to a Cambridge hotel to use her as a prostitute.

But, court heard the two were actually a couple and the girl had worked as a prostitute before meeting Needham.

His lawyer tells the Record his client wasn’t directing her to do anything.

The Crown withdrew charges of human trafficking and living off the avails of prostitution.
