One dead after head-on crash in Blandford-Blenheim (update)

One driver is dead after a head-on collision is Blandford-Blenheim.

It happened just before 1:30 p.m. Monday on Hofstetter Road.

According to Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police, an SUV was heading north on Hofstetter and another motor vehicle was heading south when they collided.

OPP, Plattsville Fire Department and Oxford Paramedic Services, Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services and Ornge all responded to the scene.

The driver of the motor vehicle suffered serious life-threatening injuries. They were transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased. They were later identified as 41-year-old Kevin Thompson of Plattsville. 

The driver of the SUV and two children in that vehicle were taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A third child in the SUV was airlifted to hospital to also be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Hofstetter Road was closed between Oxford/Waterloo Road and Township Road 14 for several hours but reopened late Monday night.
