HWY 8 WB reopens after vehicle fire

Westbound lanes of Highway 8 were closed between the 401 and Sportsworld Drive on Friday afternoon because of a vehicle fire.
Fire officials in Cambridge told CityNews Kitchener that the fire was put out as of 3:30 p.m.
They said the involved vehicle was a white cargo van and the fire broke out in the cargo compartment.
The driver pulled over to the side of the highway and exited the vehicle, which then became engulfed.
No one was hurt.
Westbound lanes of Highway 8 were closed for the fire response. They reopened around 4 p.m.
